El Kikiriki Biquey

El Kikirikí Biquey is a high-energy, Afro-Caribbean music collective rooted in the traditions of bomba, plena, and salsa, while fearlessly fusing in elements of funk, spoken word, and experimental sound. Born from the cultural heartbeat of the Bronx and the broader Puerto Rican diaspora, the group is a sonic celebration of resistance, resilience, and rhythm.

Led by a rotating ensemble of seasoned percussionists, vocalists, and improvisers—including key members from the Latinx and avant-garde scenes—El Kikirikí Biquey channels the spirit of ancestral drum and dance traditions into the present moment. Their live performances are communal and cathartic: raw call-and-response vocals, driving barriles and panderos, and spontaneous improvisations that honor the past while forging new futures.

More than a band, El Kikirikí Biquey is a movement—rooted in decolonial thought, barrio pride, and radical joy. Their name, a playful twist on folkloric expression, embodies their mission: to wake people up with the roosters' call, to stir consciousness through rhythm, and to amplify the voices of the Afro-Caribbean diaspora with fire and soul.
