Skye Steele is a violinist, songwriter, and producer whose work thoughtfully blends elements of folk, Americana, jazz, and electronic music. After spending over a decade in New York City, he developed a reputation as a versatile and in-demand collaborator, performing everywhere from subway platforms to Carnegie Hall and sharing the stage with artists such as Willie Nelson, Vanessa Carlton, Jolie Holland, and Anthony Braxton.
In 2014, Steele shifted his focus to solo songwriting, embarking on extensive tours across the U.S. and performing in a wide range of independent venues. His debut solo album, Up From The Bitterroot (2015), was written during a winter in rural Montana and reflects a transition from his improvisational background toward a more narrative-driven style. His second album, All That Light, recorded in Los Angeles with producer Cassorla, introduced a more expansive sonic palette—incorporating synths, programmed rhythms, and orchestral string arrangements—while maintaining the introspective quality of his earlier work.
Steele’s music often explores themes of place, transformation, and interconnectedness, with arrangements that balance acoustic textures and electronic experimentation. His approach remains grounded in curiosity and craft, offering a nuanced perspective on songwriting and sound.
