Alto saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and label boss Tim Berne asserts a strong and singular musical personality that links his diverse and frequently absorbing works in an astonishing variety of styles, and almost always juxtaposes meticulously noted arrangements with free improvisation.
Aliya Ultan — the Nocturnal Cellist — is a composer-performer based in New York. Raised in motion, she turned to music as a survival instinct, and never stopped moving. Her cello becomes a voice of its own: orchestral and grungy, seductive and unhinged — a medium of myth, memory, and pure sensation.
Chris Cochrane is a songwriter and guitarist who has been playing in New York since the 1980s. Chris has played with Thurston Moore, Zeena Parkins, John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Billy Martin, Richard Buckner, Davey Williams, Ladonna Smith and Jim Pugliese and many others. He was in the bands No Safety and Curlew, and is currently works in several projects: Collapsible Shoulder with Brian Chase, Kato Hideki and Kevin Bud Jones, Alphawhore with Gordon Beeferman and Kevin Shea, a duo with Stuart Popejoy and periodically plays with the Chris Rael's Church of Betty.
