A pair of classic 1965 sessions by Sun Ra and the Arkestra, packaged together with a third disc of outtakes. As murky and impenetrable as this music must have sounded to many in the mid-60s, time has demonstrated its staying power and just how organized and planned-out it is. The message here is truly in the music although the inclusion of a documentary, a photo archive and critical writings certainly helps provide a path inside for the uninitiated.
