LOOVE Electronics Series: Dijkstra + Blonk
This coming February 7th, 2026, LOOVE Annex presents an evening of electronic improvisation featuring Dutch voice artist Jaap Blonk and Boston-based multi-instrumentalist Jorrit Dijkstra in continuation of LOOVE's Electronics / Improv Mashup Series, featuring solo sets from each artist followed by duo improvisation.
Dijkstra performs on lyricon, analog synthesizer, and alto saxophone. Blonk brings his distinctive approach to voice, combining laptop processing with extended vocal techniques rooted in sound poetry traditions. The two artists first worked together in the 1990’s in Blonk’s group Splinks. After his move to Boston, Dijkstra invited Blonk a number of times to improvisation concerts with local Boston musicians such as Pandelis Karayorgis, Jeb Bishop and Nate McBride. In 2015, Blonk was a guest to concerts with Dijkstra’s group The Whammies, featuring a set of Steve Lacy’s Dada-themed compositions.
