Maya Keren

Maya Keren is a pianist, composer, and vocalist whose work bridges improvisation, songwriting, and experimental music. Originally from Philadelphia and now based in Brooklyn, they have developed a distinctive voice that draws from jazz traditions while expanding into ambient textures, electronic processing, and abstract narrative forms. Their debut album, Blebba Grows, released in 2023, marked a deeply personal and exploratory entry into solo artistry.

Keren’s music reflects a process-oriented approach—centered on deep listening, relational presence, and a commitment to vulnerability and transformation through sound. Drawing from influences ranging from Alice Coltrane and Meredith Monk to indie folk and spiritual jazz, their performances often blur boundaries between form and improvisation, offering audiences immersive, introspective experiences.

Alongside their solo work, Keren is involved in numerous collaborative projects and serves as an educator, advocating for creative practice as a mode of personal and collective inquiry. Their upcoming album will be released on Squama Recordings in 2025, further expanding their sonic and conceptual range. They are part of a new generation of artists redefining the role of the composer-performer in contemporary music.
