Peter Apfelbaum Hieroglyphics Quartet- January 7- Toy Store Sessions 7

Join us January 7th at 3pm for an afternoon of music, Toy Store Sessions #07, featuring the mighty Peter Apfelbaum.

Multi-instrumentalist/composer Peter Apfelbaum presents this quartet comprising musicians from his longstanding large ensemble, Hieroglyphics. Drawing from their shared backgrounds in the worlds of jazz, experimental, Afro-Cuban, world folk music, ambient music, musique concrète and dub reggae as well as unnamed and unknown music, the group will combine new Apfelbaum compositions with exploratory improvisations in a spontaneous combustion ceremony.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Apfelbaum - whose working relationship with Roseman dates back to the mid-nineties - has worked with artists as diverse as Don Cherry, Kronos Quartet, Omar Sosa and Phish. Also from the Bay Area, Garabedian and Perez are more recent exponents of the same Berkeley Jazz Program and multicultural environment which Apfelbaum and many other jazz luminaries have come out of since the 1970's.
